The seat opens. You're already registered.
SnagRU is a Chrome extension for Rutgers students. Give it a full course's index number and it watches the open-sections feed. When a seat appears, it opens WebReg, logs in with your NetID and registers you.
Runs in your own Chrome browser. Not affiliated with Rutgers.
- Index 12345 added to your list
- Watching the Rutgers open-sections feed
- A seat opened in section 12345
- Logging in to WebReg with your NetID
- Registered
Three steps, then you wait
Add your course index
Find the 5-digit index of the section you want in the Schedule of Classes and add it to the extension, along with your campus.
SnagRU watches for an open seat
While Chrome is open, the extension checks Rutgers' public open-sections feed every second or so. You can keep using your computer.
It registers you in WebReg
The moment your section shows up as open, the extension opens WebReg, signs in with your NetID and submits the registration for you.
Built to stay out of your way
It does what you would do by hand, only faster. Here is what that means for your data.
- It runs in your own Chrome
- The watching and registering happen in the extension on your computer. There is no SnagRU server clicking through WebReg for you.
- Your NetID password stays local
- Your NetID and password are kept in the extension's local storage in your browser and are only used to fill in the Rutgers sign-in page.
- It uses Rutgers' public feed
- Seat checks use the same open-sections data the Schedule of Classes publishes. Registration goes through the normal WebReg page.
- Card details stay with Stripe
- You pay through Stripe Checkout. SnagRU stores your plan status, not your card number.
Pick how long you need it
Registration season is short. Pay for a month or two, or buy once and keep it.

Questions you probably have
What is the index number?
It is the 5-digit number that identifies one specific section of a course, for example the lecture or recitation you want. You can find it in the Rutgers Schedule of Classes or on WebReg next to the section. Each section has its own index, so use the one for the section you want a seat in.
Does it work for every campus?
The extension supports New Brunswick, Newark and Camden. You choose your campus when you create your account and when you add a course.
Is my NetID safe?
Your NetID password is stored in the extension's local storage in your own browser. It is used to fill in the Rutgers sign-in page when a seat opens, and it is not stored on SnagRU's servers. Your NetID username is saved with your account. Anyone who can use your browser profile can read what the extension stores, so keep your computer locked.
How do I cancel?
Sign in, open Account and choose Manage billing. That opens Stripe, where you can cancel a monthly plan. The Lifetime plan is a single payment, so there is nothing to cancel.
What if a seat never opens?
Then nothing happens. SnagRU can only react when Rutgers shows the section as open, and it cannot create seats. Registration can also fail for reasons on your account, like a hold, a time conflict or a closed registration window, and WebReg decides that. Chrome also has to be running for the extension to watch.
Is this allowed?
SnagRU automates steps you could do yourself on WebReg. We are not affiliated with Rutgers and can't speak for its policies on automated tools, so read the university's rules and use SnagRU at your own risk. We can't guarantee you will get any seat.
